One of my goals the last couple of years has been to build my own arcade machines. I'm sure this is also one of Andy's goals too. Having spent more than enough time researching I think i've found the soul for my ideal set-up. I'm hoping to start purchasing parts from my next pay day.
Have you built your own arcade machine?
What Front end or OS would you opt for?
And more importantly, free standing or Bartop?

Proper stand up arcade would be my dream.
I would have to buy an assemble at home one(kinda like ikea furniture)
I then would use my modded xbox with coin ops 7 and an xarcade and have a big crtv
When I get a bigger house I will defiantly make it happen

If you have the space Benny a stand up I think would be my favourite as it reminds me of the old days. Hyperspin looks gooas a front end for an arcade game. But I have not seen coin ops on one just my Xbox.

With the insides mate are you going to buy all the components for a computer or a cheap one from eBay! I bought a cheap one after reading a post I'll try to dig it out. Mame needs a modest PC to run really. I have jamma and a Naomi cabinets so am very lucky but the jamma might get converted to manage

Ideally I would love to use Hyperspin for the front end but it's very tricky to configure. I have CoinOps on xbox which is very good and Britneys pairs is also looking into other systems for future support. Wasn't a big fan of Android based stuff until the past year. It has proved to be very very good. So I am looking at the ODROID as the ideal solution. Using Mame4droid until CoinOps or HYperspin get's there. This way I can also play awesome android games on the cab like Dead Trigger. :-D
